Symptoms of Tinnitus
Tinnitus involves the presence of one or more sounds without an external source. These noises can vary from being barely audible to being so loud that it is completely debilitating. Over 2% of the population is disabled due to severe tinnitus. The noise can also change in volume and may be heard in one or both ears. Tinnitus may be intermittent, coming and going without warning, or continuous.
Common Tinnitus Symptoms Include:
- Buzzing
- Clicking
- Hissing
- Ringing
- Whistling
There are two kinds of tinnitus.The best form of treatment is often dependent on which kind of tinnitus you have.
- Subjective tinnitus is tinnitus only the individual can hear. This is the most common form of tinnitus. There are many possible causes for this condition most typically including nerve damage or hearing loss.
- Objective tinnitus is tinnitus your doctor can hear when he or she does an examination. This is a very rare type of tinnitus that could be caused by blood vessel problems in the ear or other physiological problems.
