The Use of Continuous Theta Burst Stimulation For The Treatment Of Anxiety: A Case Series
By By Louis Littman, Suzanne M. Datto
Objective
To present a case series of the use of adjunctive continuous theta burst (cTBS) to the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) to treat anxiety symptoms.
Low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to the right DLPFC has been studied as a treatment for anxiety based on its hypothesized induction of long-term depression (LTD) in neuronal connections. cTBS is a faster procedure that is also suggested to induce LTD. We, therefore, hypothesized that cTBS could be an efficacious treatment for anxiety.
