Transcranial magnetic stimulation for the treatment of tinnitus

This study compared rTMS responders and non-responders when following up in the treatment of tinnitus, or ringing in the ears. In the original study, a responder was defined as an improvement of at least 10 points according to the tinnitus questionnaire (TQ) score between baseline and the follow-up assessment. When following up with the same subjects 2 and 4 years after successful treatment, effects of treatment had continued to ease Tinnitus by an average of 14 points. Suggests potential for long lasting effect in the treatment of Tinnitus with rTMS (Burger et al., 2011).
