Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation of the prefrontal cortex in depression

TMS is effective due to its ability to modify and adapt regional cortical activity to achieve changes in regional brain activity in affective disorders such as depression. This review summarizes the enormous body of previous research in this field leading from basic research on mechanisms of action to differential clinical applications. it also incorporates the literature combining TMS with brain imaging, and then overview the clinical work done with TMS in depression (George et al., 2009).
